What is MBTL?
In one line
My Best Type of Love. A test that names how you love in a four-letter type. The letters are chosen for their meaning — Distance (C·O), Antenna (M·L), Conflict (D·R), Belief (K·G). A fifth axis, Expression, is added at the end as -E or -Q.
Why we made it
Love gets a little easier when you can say 'this is how I am' in one phrase. We wanted words for reading each other's grain instead of words for fixing each other. That is why no type is good or bad, and we describe the strengths of both ends first.
What it is not
- It is not a psychological diagnosis and cannot be used as a basis for therapy or counselling decisions.
- It does not tell you where a relationship is going. There are people who do well with every kind of pairing.
- It is a record of the answers you gave, so your mood that day and the way you see yourself show up in it.
What we do not store
Your answers are worked out on this screen. We do not tie your answers or result to a name or an account — there are no accounts.
To improve the test, we do count a few anonymous things: that a test was completed, an answer pattern nobody can trace to a person, and visit counts. We do not store raw IP addresses or cookies.
A result link carries only the type code and the axis positions. Nothing in it points to a person.

How to use the name
- The first time, write the full name 'My Best Type of Love' alongside it. After that, MBTL on its own is fine.
- Please do not call a type a 'diagnosis' or a 'personality test result'. It is a test for fun and self-understanding.
- Use the type name and its four-letter code as they are. Shortening or changing them makes the type hard to find.
- When you show a result, include the link (mbtl.ai).
